Getting started and advance with LinuxSince a lot of people are wondering about what Linux is and how to use it, I give you a guide about how to build the distribution that fits your needs.
I will link an explanation where ever I think it is necessary. Please read this links before you ask questions.
What the heck is Linux?
Linux is an open source kernel. There are a lot of operating systems based on the Linux kernel.
Since I simply can not write about every system, I will give you a basic overview over some of the most commonly used systems and explain how to choose the right one for you and how to configure it to fit what you like.

In this part of the guide, I will tell you how to setup a basic, easy to use Linux system. I will try to explain everything so that someone without much experience can understand it.
This guide will require you to at least know how to operate the basic functions of a computer and also you will have to use your brain!
Since I will explain how to install Ubuntu as the only system on your computer, please make sure that all data you want to keep is stored somewhere save (e.g. not on this PC!).
By following my instructions, all data on your computer will be erased!
Getting the System
You can download Ubuntu from their website.
32 or 64 bit?
If you are not sure what you need, you can always pick 32bit. If you have a new computer (younger then about 5 years), the 64bit version should be fine.
